Banshee, the Cinemax sensational Emmy-Award winning action and drama television series is up for renewal – soon to enter its third season in 2015. The announcement was made recently by Kary Antholis, who is the President of the Cinemax and HBO network. At the moment, the show is enjoying its second season and each episode is aired on Fridays at 10 PM EST.
The show received its first Emmy award in September 2013 for its exceptional special visual effects. The series is gaining steady momentum; with the first season enjoying attention from more than 700,000 television viewers. For a first season, this is almost unprecedented and therefore, many think that the third season is set to do even better. TV Guide calls the series addictive entertainment and the Hollywood Reporter considers it entertaining, witty and intense.
The series is set to continue with the existing characters Lucas Hood; played by Antony Starr, a master crook who vigilantly pursues his co-star and previous partner in crime, Carrie Hopewell; playing Ivana Milicevic.  In the film, Ivana reinvents herself from a life of crime to the wife of the lead prosecutor in Banshee. Lucas undertakes the office of the town’s sheriff to carry on his illegal activities while he is being hunted down by a sinister gang that he had betrayed in the past.
For those who don’t already know, the first season was filmed in the state of North Carolina; mainly throughout the Charlotte area. Cast members from the area were recruited by the North Carolina Film Office; creating in excess of 8,000 job openings and maintaining the services of 250 expert film crew members during the first two seasons. The state of North Carolina was the chosen location for filming because of its wide variety of locations, its solid infrastructure and the opportunity for the filmmakers to earn a refundable tax credit.
