The film was shot in North Carolina, largely at the EUE Screengems Studios and had Anthony Mackie as the lead in a cast that included Jackie Earle Haley and Wendell Pierce. Having wrapped shooting, it was shown to be in post for some time with no release date ever being set. Dan Pritzker who is listed by Forbes as one of the 400 Richest Americans  is said to be re-shooting much of the film without Mackie as Buddy Bolden. Having such unlimited wealth, he’s does not seem to be in a stressful situation as far as having to go to such extraordinary cost of reworking the film with a new lead.

According to Roger Friedman of Showbiz411, Pritzker will replace Mackie, who is no currently unavailable and re-shoot all of his scenes with a new actor as Bolden. Pritzker was said to have laughed off reports by credible sources that he had already spent 100 Million on the film.

When production resumes. The sets, which are currently in storage here in North Carolina will be restored to finish the project.
