A new comedy film begins production in Asheville, North Carolina this month.

zacBased on a true story, this currently untitled film is slated to star some of Hollywood’s most notable comedians. North Carolina native Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover trilogy) stars as an armored car driver who conspires to steal nearly $20 million from a bank vault. Owen Wilson co-stars as his incompetent cohort.

This project is attracting many comedians and producers who’ve worked in this state before. Jody Hill and Danny McBride, co-creators of Eastbound & Down, have written a draft of the script and will serve as executive producers. Executive producer Kevin J. Messick worked on Tammy, and executive producer Tucker Tooley worked on We’re The Millers. And Jason Sudeikis, star of We’re The Millers, now returns to North Carolina, joining the cast of this armored car comedy.

North Carolina’s film industry offers a good place for these comedians to work. As they return, they bring more talent and more success to this state. This project, formerly titled Loomis Fargo, will be directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite). Several Saturday Night Live alums round out the cast, including Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon — and SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels will serve as producer for this film.

This untitled heist movie is scheduled for theatrical release on August 14, 2015. With stars and producers like these, it’s bound to be successful — and draw more film comedians to the area.
